yesterday’s output: 1/2 hour cardio on the elliptical machine, ab work.

today, i’m off to the gym and then i’m going to pop into work and do an observation of a cow-orker (i’m a master teacher, scary). i think i may be staying after hours to do some posters and lesson plan and work on my credentialling stuff…misery loves company, y’know?

i’ve officially been on vacation for close to a month and a half. though i did work for most of the first month, i’ve been enjoying waking up late, then taking a mid-afternoon nap. i do, however, try to wake up at a senisble hour (yesterday, at 11:50, was a fluke), and be somewhat productive. i bought a new ikea dresser, so all my clothes aren’t on the floor–i’ve been trying to hang all my clothes, but i realized i dont’ have enough space for that. my next major ikea acquisition is this, i intend on putting my tv, cable box, and dvd player on top of it, getting my skivvies out of my makeshift drawers out of my closet, and actually storing my work-related stuff in something other than plastic drawers. i also intend on getting a paper shredder and finally ditching all the papers i’ve been hanging onto because i’ve been too afraid to throw them out. hooray for paydays, and extra hours!

a major expenditure for me was fixing up my skippy. in case you don’t know, skippy, my car, was majorly injured about a year ago, and i was without funds or time to fix it. as i was getting out of my car in salty’s neighborhood, someone drove through my door, and kept going. he was in really bad shape, and someone bondo’d it down so it wouldn’t hurt anyone. about a month ago, the stress from being broken finally took its toll on my window, which stopped going up. argh. so, not only is there now a new door on him, but there are also four new tires as well, and fresh oil. i was going to get the brake pads changed, but my mechanic said they were fine. yippee.

my birthday came and went, and i had a great time with my friends, though i’m rather nonplussed about being 25. people have told me it’s a good year, and that it’s a life-altering year. so far, i don’t feel it. things i would like to do to make the next 50 or so years bearable. i’ve authorized my credit union to double the amount of money they take out of my pay check each month and stash it into my secret savings account. it’s not reallly a secret, but they have such difficult hours and locations, that i’d essentially have to take a day off to go there. it’s great, i pulled out some money just before we went to san francisco, and i had enough left over to buy my dresser. pluss, i’d never really miss the money anyway. i also want to increase the amount of money that is contributed to my 403b plan, but i can’t find the contact information for my financial planner. of course, gym is in the “be good to your body” routine, in addition to eating bettter and cutting down on the smokie treats.

over the weekend, salty and i took a trip to san francisco. our intent was to visit jason and sanfranann. jason got pretty banged up on his scooter on his way to work. another car cut in front of him and, more or less, took him out. we were able to visit him twice at the rehabiltiaiton facility that he’s in. anna was a different story. she just gave birth to her second baby girl, and i really wanted to see her, but our schedules never really gelled together. which is typical of us. the last 20 years of our lives were spent together in near misses. it was good to be out of town, and i was happy that a new and improved skippy was able to make it with us. now he needs another bath though, he’s covered in dead bugs.

visiting jason made me think really hard about getting a life insurance policy. he can’t sue for pain and suffering, because the law in california requires that you have life insurance in order to sue for anything outside of expenses and lost wages. i doubt i’d ever try to make money off of an injury, but if someone took out my ability to work, i’d need to be reeducated somehow. then i’d have to go through the ordeal of choosing a beneficiary.

ok, i’m off to the gym, perhaps staples to get a paper shredder, and lunch…
